Holistic Release Work for Infants and Children of All Ages & Abilities
Supporting whole-body harmony so children can move freely and thrive fully.
I believe in helping little ones thrive through gentle, effective bodywork— by addressing the root cause, not just the symptoms, and without forceful or painful interventions. When movement flows effortlessly, so does a child’s ability to grow, explore, and thrive.
Meet your Physical Therapist
Dr. Katie Chung PT, DPT, PCS, is a pediatric physical therapist with over 5 years of experience specializing in medically complex and fragile children and with infants. A graduate of Midwestern University and Arizona State University, she is a board-certified specialist in pediatric physical therapy. Katie works closely with families, empowering them to overcome limitations and supporting children with complex disabilities across various settings. She utilizes techniques like myofascial release (John F Barnes approach) and Total Motion Release Tots, believing in a holistic approach to healing that integrates the body, mind, and spirit. As a first-generation Chinese-American, Katie also values culturally sensitive, family-centered care.
A Holistic Approach to Optimal Movement
Triad of Holistic Release Work takes bodywork beyond the surface. Dr. Katie Chung’s philosophy of physical therapy is explained through a general 3-phase process and focuses on addressing the following:
-
Range of Motion
Releasing restrictions for a freer, more natural movement by addressing the fascia.
-
Neuromuscular Re-Education
Helping the body and brain sync for optimal function. Quality of movement matters.
-
Functional Movement
Supporting movement goals through play-based therapy and intrinsic motivation.
Why Fascia Therapy?
Fascia is the connective tissue between all parts of the body. It encapsulates and fills the space between bone, muscle, nerves, organs, etc. When hydrated and free, it creates fluid movement. When adhered or pulled in certain ways due to physical or emotional trauma, neurological conditions, surgery, and other reasons - it restricts freedom to move and process sensory information. Therefore, it impacts posture, how we move, how we coordinate, and how we can even learn new skills. I believe in interdisciplinary care. And I believe that this is a great first step in caring for the whole child.
